These are the 2018 dates for our highway clean-up this year...

April 14 Changed to the following Saturday due to the weather forecast!

April 21 - Saturday - 8:30am (NOTE: new day)
July 14 - Saturday - 8:30am
September 22 - Saturday - 8:30am

Alternate days in case of weather will be the Sunday after the scheduled Saturday.

Suggest bringing some type of work gloves.

We will meet in the same place as last year:
Meijer #50 - MDOT Park & Ride section
5531 28th Street SE
Grand Rapids 49512

Sign up at the next member meeting, or contact Greg Hoiem if you’d like to participate.

The ideal number of workers is 12 to make the job easy & quick. As usual, one lucky participant will win a gun at the end of the year - each time you attend a clean-up you will get one entry in the drawing, giving you a potential to have up to 3 entries. Drawing ONLY available to those who participate in the clean-up.

Your assistance is GREATLY appreciated!

Our Chapter is part of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (“MDOT”) “Adopt-A-Highway” program.

This is a two-year program, renewable, in which we would be responsible for cleaning up an assigned stretch of highway three times a year. MDOT will provide safety training, safety vests, and litter bags. Along with demonstrating that we are good stewards of our environment, we will get a sign on each side of the road showing SCI-Michigan is the group keeping this portion of the highway clean.

It will give our Chapter more exposure to the public, and, hopefully, help us gain new members! It will also demonstrate that, along with our active hunting programs, we are also dedicated to helping our communities in other ways. This is also a chance for members to get more actively involved in their organization.

We have the 2 mile stretch of I-96 from 28th Street down to Thornapple River Dr.

Those volunteering should visit this website,, and view the safety video [HERE].
