In July I received a letter from Mark Boersen, Wildlife Habitat Biologist with the Department of Natural Resources thanking the chapter for its “generous donation of a dart rifle…” Noting that the DNR is facing tough financial challenges, he states, “By working together, we will get through these difficult times…”


Also in July, Don Brown, Director of Education, SCIF-AWLS, wrote to thank the chapter for its pledge and payment of $3000.00 towards general facility maintenance at the American Wilderness Leadership School.


Warren Parker, Veterans Committee Chair, sent President Schuler a card thanking him for participating in SCI’s 2007 Veteran’s Day Activities in Washington, D.C.


Jennifer from Alto Harvest Fest sent a card of thanks to Stony & Alma Bing, for bringing the Sensory Safari Trailer to their event. 400 people visited our display.


Newaygo County, FIA sent a receipt for our Sportsmen Against Hunger donation. With a card to Linda Veurink, SCIF Sables thanked the chapter for our donation of $1000.00 to support education programs.


Erika Fatima & Mary Ann Kacymski, from Pentwater Public Schools sent a note of thanks for providing them with the opportunity to attend the American Wilderness Leadership School.


Vern Edewaard was the recipient of a wonderful handmade card and a note from the teacher and students who attended his trophy room tour. The teacher said, “The students were in awe of what they saw.” She ended by thanking Vern for sharing his passion with them.


Because Stony and Alma Bing submitted information and photos to SCI Foundation, the Chapter has been entered into a raffle for $2500 to go towards our HS programs and another raffle for convention display panels.


Director Jon Bumstead received a letter from NCCS Development Director Diane Szewezyk-Smith, thanking the Chapter for a cash gift along with a donation of food goods. She said that their agency is feeding, on average, 465 needy households per month.


The Chapter received a letter from SCI Membership Services Manager Nita Mackley, thanking the Chapter for our recent 30% contribution. Our donation of $26,500 put us in the top five for chapter contributions at the SCI May Board Meeting.


Loretta Glancey, Accounting Manager for SCI Foundation wrote to thank the Chapter for its $1000 donation to support the Safari In A Box program.


At the May board meeting in Washington D.C., your board offered to support the Alaska Chapter of SCI in it’s effort to defeat the anti-hunting ballot initiative. Recently, Chapter President Eddie Grasser sent us a card thanking the chapter for the $500 contribution.


Again the Michigan Chapter is making a difference both at home and abroad. At the grass roots level, through these programs, people discover the true purpose and nature of our organization.
