CHIPOTLE BURGERS
by Guest Chef, Tony Taco
Most of you guys (and a few of you gals) like to add a little spice to your life from time to time.
Beef has little taste of its own and that’s why there are so many steak sauces out there.
Well, here’s how to add a little sizzle to your burgers. The following recipe features smoked chilis and cumin.
If you want some heat from something other than Jalapenos, give these a try
CHIPOTLE BURGERS
1 pound ground beef
3 chipotle chilis, from can
2 tablespoons of adobo sauce
1 small onion, finely chopped
½ teaspoon of oregano
¼ teaspoon of ground cumin
4 burger buns
hot sauce for topping
Combine the beef with the rest of the ingredients and mix well. If you have
time, allow the mixture to rest for 1-3 hours in the refrigerator. This will
ensure the heat from the chipotle chillis is evenly spread throughout the
meat.
Shape the beef mixture into 4 patties and broil/grill/fry each burger for 4
minutes on each side or until the meat is fully cooked.
Serve on toasted burger buns with lots of hot sauce and your choice of
melted cheese.
Suggested burger toppings: try refried beans, guacamole and sour cream.
